This Olympic/Sprint distance event offers a wonderful course for first timers and experienced triathletes alike. The swim is in a quiet pond and the bike and run courses are flat and fast (or flat and slow if you just want to savor every moment of the race), all with fun and enthusiastic volunteers. Plus, the race is managed by Fiske Independent Race Management, the largest and most experienced race production company in the Northeast.
Swimmers do two loops of the swim course in Tispaquin Pond for the Olympic distance event and one loop for the sprint, a pretty setting for the start of the race. Then it's on to the bike course where cyclists will complete 4 loops of a 6 mile course for the Olympic race and 2 loops for the sprint on flat roads the entire way.
Come to race, but stay for the festivities. Your triathlon experience includes a DJ playing great music, yummy post race treats, and sponsor giveaways. This is a family-friendly race venue with a playground on the beach.
USA Triathlon age group divisions in five year increments are employed for this event, for example: 30 to 34 years, 35 to 39 years, etc. Age group is determined by age as of December 31, 2018. There is a Clydesdale category for men who weigh 220+ pounds and an Athena category for women who weigh 165+ pounds. There are also relay categories for three person teams.
Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group, and in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions, and to all three members of the top male relay team, top female relay team, and top mixed relay team. A random award or two may be given out at the race director's discretion.Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group, and in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions, and to all three members of the top male relay team, top female relay team, and mixed relay team.
