Tri Douglas is a wonderful late season sprint triathlon that attracts experienced competitors as well as people who are new to the sport. It is held in a quiet, Central Massachusetts town that is convenient to Boston, Rhode Island, and parts of Connecticut. Race categories include age group, two/three person relay teams, athena, clydesdale and aquabike.
The race venue is in beautiful Douglas State Forest -- a bucolic setting for the race, and an ideal location for a post event cookout as there are plenty of barbecues and picnic tables available for use, hiking trails, and a beach for more post event fun.
The race begins with a 1/4 mile swim in Wallum Lake, a very large and picturesque lake with placid waters. The single loop, 11 mile bike route on rural roads offers varied terrain, and a few good climbs. It's a challenging but scenic bike course. The majority of the run is inside Douglas State Forest. The pretty setting, enthusiastic volunteers, and friendly environment make this an especially enjoyable event for participants and spectators.

E-Mails will usually be sent Thursday prior to race with any specific race details.
Packet pick up will be offered from 7:15AM-8:45AM on race day. Your packet will contain your assigned timing chip, color coded swim cap and other goodies. Packets can be picked up outside the F.I.R.M. motorhome on the race site.
F.I.R.M. employs the use of the ChampionChip chip timing system for all race timing at our events. All athletes will receive an assigned timing chip in each packet. This timing chip is F.I.R.M. property, and must be returned into the designated bin (marked with a chip return sign) upon crossing the finish line. Timing chips are NON-TRANSFERABLE; each chip is assigned to a specific athlete. Knowingly swapping timing chips with another athlete is a serious offense and can be punishable by suspension from all USA Triathlon sanctioned events for up to one year and/or suspension/expulsion from USA Triathlon membership.
Per USA Triathlon rules, all athletes must have their body marked with their assigned Bib Number and Age, no exceptions. Body marking will take place next to packet pick up on race day starting at 7:15AM.
A pre-race athlete's meeting will be held at 8:50 AM at the swim start on the beach. Transition will close at this time, so please be ready!
Come to race, but stay for the festivities. Your triathlon experience includes DJ Magic Mike playing great music, yummy post race food/treats and sponsor giveaways. This is a family-friendly race venue with grills for barbecues and picnic tables for eating backing up to the beach.
USA Triathlon age group divisions in five year increments are employed for this event, for example: 30 to 34 years, 35 to 39 years, etc. Age group is determined by age as of December 31, 2019. There is a Clydesdale category for men who weigh 220+ pounds and an Athena category for women who weigh 165+ pounds. There are also relay categories for two and three person teams.
Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group, the top three finishers in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions, and to all three members of the top male relay team, top female relay team, and top mixed relay team. A random award or two may be given out at the race director's discretion.
This is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event managed by a USA Triathlon certified Race Director.
