Run for a Reason....Salute our Veterans (Pumpkin Fest) 5K and Fun Run/Walk

In support of Diakonos Veterans Transitioonal Housing Program.

October 1, 2016 Diakonos (Fifth Street Ministries) has a new program. Piedmont Veterans Assistance Council (PVAC) and Iredell Statesville Community Enrichment Corporation (ISCEC) have come together with us to provide transitional housing for homeless veterans. We moved our first two veterans into the completely remodeled home in September with the hopes of filling the house by Christmas. No veteran should ever be homeless, and one is too many. Every veteran without a home has earned the help and support of our community. In the United States, veterans make up one in four of all homeless Americans. Iredell County is home to 25,000 veterans. The goals of the program, in addition to providing safe housing, include working with community partners in providing necessary services to address the reasons for homelessness, and with the ultimate goal of moving the veteran to permanent, stable housing. We have an exciting opportunity for you to participate with us in honoring our veterans. We invite you to support “Run for a Reason...Support Our Veterans” 5k and Fun Run/Walk that will be held on Saturday, November 13th prior to Pumpkinfest that is located in Downtown Statesville. All funds will be used to support the Veterans Transitional Housing Program. As a matter of information for your records, our tax ID number is - #58-1821225 - for your tax purposes as it relates to your sponsorship. Please be sure to designate your gift as “Run for a Reason.” We strictly adhere to restrictions for any funding received for any of our programs. Sponsorships begin at $100. In order to have your name on the back of the event tshirt, we need notification of your sponsorship by Friday, October 21. You can email me your intent ( and mail your check to the address below.
