Currently, 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and this number is expected to increase to 14 million by the year 2050.
Together, the strength of our light will outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease.
On June 21- the summer solstice (the longest day of the year)- people across the world will participate in a fundraising activity on The Longest Day to support those battling Alzheimer’s disease. This year, Plantation Estates, Acts Retirement-Life Communities is excited to host our very own 5K event and 1-mile fun run/walk for The Longest Day on June 21st at 8:00 am. All funds raised for the event will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association to support them in their research, awareness, and advocacy efforts. We would love for you, your family, and your friends to come participate in this amazing event.
The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, we encourage a headphone-free environment during the running of the Longest Day 5k.
We expect our events to happen rain or shine. No one, including the Race Director, wants to make changes to an event on race day. However, the safety of our participants is of paramount concern. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the Race Director, in communication with the local law enforcement and the city, may delay the event, cancel the event, or make changes to the race course.
The event may be delayed or canceled due to Tornado Warning, Tornado Watch, Thunderstorm, Heavy Rain, or any other extreme weather condition. Light to moderate rain is not considered an Adverse Weather Condition.
As stated in the Registration Policies, refunds are not issued for events canceled for Adverse Weather Conditions as the funds for the event have already been spent in preparation for race day.
Awards will be given to the Top finishers (1st and 2nd place), in the following age groups: 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, and 90+. Participants under the age of 10 will not be
