What is a VIRTUAL 5K?

A virtual 5k is an activity that can be completed at any time in ANY location of the participant’s choice.

What is the First Knight 5K?

The Kannapolis Rotary Club coordinates the First Knight Virtual 5K to support the Early Act First Knight (EAFK) Program. So, not only are you going to get a really awesome medal for your participation in this 5K, but your registration fee will also be going toward a great, local cause. The Early Act First Knight Program is a character development program that teaches students what it means to put service before self. Not much of a runner?

No problem! The First Knight Virtual 5K can be completed by running, skating, swimming, biking, walking or any other physical activity that allows you to complete the mileage. Our event is about providing you with the motivation to achieve your personal goals, whatever those may be. So, yes. Complete the 5K however you would like!

Who can participate?

Anyone and everyone. You can complete your 5K alone or with a group - It is completely up to you! Just get out and get moving!

The Medal:

Medals will be mailed to registered participants on a weekly basis. These medals will be mailed out each Friday to the participants who registered the previous week. There will be no shipping charge for participants.

Medals can also be picked up from the City of Kannapolis Parks & Recreation office during regular business hours. The Parks & Recreation office is located on the 3rd floor of the City Hall & Police Headquarters.

How do I log my miles?

The First Knight 5K believes in the honor system, so no proof is required for your race completion. However, feel free to post pictures, videos, etc. to social media using the hashtag #RunKannapolis to share your experience with other participants who are completing the 5K.


$30 Registration fee for ALL participants, regardless of time registered during the registration period.

The race period will begin on June 1, 2018 and will last all the way through December 15, 2018.
