On April 25, 2009, the first ever Ellen Reavis Race for Autism was held at Kit Carson Park in Albuquerque! A little over 200 people participated in what would soon become the largest autism related event in New Mexico! From that beautiful day on, in April of each year, families from throughout New Mexico gather to celebrate the joys, the struggles and the successes of those affected by autism. We gather to raise awareness and acceptance, to educate, to show love and to support those we love affected by autism.

Nine years ago, when the Ellen Reavis Walk for Autism began the community rallied around the New Mexico Autism Community as they produced the first event of its kind in New Mexico. Since 2009, the support from community for this event, has grown and we recognize the success of the event is because of this support! It is because of YOU we are celebrating another year of the Ellen Reavis Walk for Autism.

The event has continued to grow because of your support and features a walk honoring individuals on the autism spectrum, a 5k run, a KidsK, and a 1.5-mile walk. This special day will include the Brotherhood Motorcycle Ride for Autism, Ninja Park, Knocker Ball, sensory activities, bounce houses, food trucks, resource fair, live music, and special appearance by Air Dance New Mexico!

Come one, come all and join us on April 7th, 2018 at Balloon Fiesta Park for the greatest show in Autism! On April 7th, 2018, The New Mexico Autism community will once gather to feel the magic that the Walk for Autism produces up close! Families, teachers, therapist, friends and neighbors just to name a few will gather at Balloon Fiesta Park and help us "Preserve the Past and Promote the Future" and celebrate how far we have come! This year's walk will be glittering and glimmering with wondrous surprises for young and old.

In addition to bringing the community together, this important event helps raise necessary funds that help the New Mexico Autism Society continue our vision of creating a community of acceptance, support and connection for those affected by autism throughout New Mexico. This year alone between community collaborations, support groups, educational workshops, community outings, resource and referral, the New Mexico Autism Society has served over 4,000 people! We will see you "Under the Big Top."

Whether you're participating on a team, as an individual or as a volunteer, the WALK FOR AUTISM is a great way to raise your voice and join our force to create acceptance and awareness about autism.
