Hi, my name is Ben Emerson. For my Eagle Scout project last year, I honored our veterans by organizing the Freedom Run 5K with the goal of sending three veterans on a special trip to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii during 2018. With your help, I was able to send one veteran from World War II, one veteran from the Korean Conflict and one veteran from the Vietnam War on this special trip. This year I would like to raise enough money to send veterans to Normandy as it is the 75th anniversary of D- Day. The trip is sponsored by Forever Young Senior Veterans of Collierville, TN. Please help me achieve our goal of raising $30,000 to help send veterans to Normandy. This will be one of the last opportunities to honor some of our World War II veterans for the unforgettable sacrifices they made for us.
In support of my project, I am sponsoring a fun 5K race/walk on the boardwalk and dirt trails of Collierville’s WC Johnson Park, on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Please bring the whole family and join us for a fun race with patriotic music. Some of our wonderful veterans will also attend. This is a great way to show all of our veterans how much we appreciate their sacrifices on behalf of our country.
Pre-registration is $25 per person until March 23rd and $30 per person after. All participants will receive a T-shirt and refreshments. There will be awards for all age categories. Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. on April 6th.
In case of inclement weather the race will be held Saturday, April 13th.
Spirit runners are welcome and additional donations toward this amazing goal are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support!
** Please note this is not a sanctioned 5K run. Race distance is approximate.
