The Charlotte New Year’s Day 5K
Charlotte’s New Year’s Day 5K -- a first for Charlotte-- invites the community to get the new year started on the right foot with a fun, healthy activity for everyone! This new event features a 5K run and wellness walk along the LYNX Blue Line Extension on N. Tryon Street in University City. The race will kick off at Atrium Health University Hospital mid-morning after a lively warm-up. At the finish line, participants will board the LYNX light rail train (passes included in registration), back to the “New Year, Better U!” community street party.
About the Charlotte NYD5K:
Proceeds from the Charlotte NYD5K will benefit the Camino Community Center food pantry and the Jamil Niner food pantry. The more runners and walkers who register, the greater the benefit to these organizations who work daily to address food insecurity for many in our community.
Why University City?
University City is a quickly growing community in Charlotte. It’s important that as we grow, we continue to work to make University City a livable community for all. Food insecurity and hunger issues are not unique to University City, but our Ucity community is committed to doing what we can to support solutions.
This event will bring thousands to our community to celebrate a New Year, while providing a fun and healthy activity to get started on our New Year commitment to health.
