Presented by the Twin City Track Club, the Beat the Heat 5K was twice recognized by Endurance Magazine as the Best 5K in the Triad. The race was featured in Running Journal magazine as the #1 “Under the Radar” race in the South. The purpose of the Beat the Heat 5K is to promote fitness and health, and improve the quality of life for individuals and families. Each year, the Beat the Heat attracts more than 1,000 participants with elite runners from cities around the Southeast. The 2018 race will occur on the evening of July 21 beginning and ending near Wake Forest’s BB&T Field and Bridger Field House.

We are thrilled to acknowledge that Beat the Heat has again been designated the official USATF 5K Championship race for the state of North Carolina. The USATF Championship will be run as a separate event immediately following the regular 5K race. This will provide a fun spectator opportunity so all participants can cheer on the elite runners from around the state of NC. Prize money of more than $5000 will be awarded to the qualifying NC-USATF 5K winners.

We are delighted to provide this program as a way to further support our mission to promote fitness and health, and improve the quality of life for individuals and families. A portion of the event proceeds will towards each of these non-profit charities. Also, race participants can contribute directly to the Charity Partners at the time of event registration.
