The 4th Annual Pete Sowell Memorial 5K will be a run/walk honoring the life and memory of our dear friend, Pete Sowell, who tragically lost his battle with Diabetes in May of 2014. We are raising money to support JDRF just like last year and hope to make the event even bigger and better than in 2016.
Pete was stricken with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 14, however he never let diabetes control his life and lived each day doing exactly what Pete wanted to do. Eventually, the disease took Pete from us, but it can never take away the memories, inspirations and laughs that Pete shared with us. We raised $43,000 last year! It is important to note that this money is locally benefiting others with Type 1 Diabetes and that there is even an "artificial pancreas" on the horizon that had it been available, it would have alerted us to Pete's seriously low blood sugars and therefore saved his life. Help us save someone else by contributing or sponsoring this year's event!
The race will be held August 19th, 2017. We think that if we all work together, we can make a huge difference and give back to a cause that has hit so close to home. Pete's family wants anyone and everyone to come out and support, even if you don't plan on running/walking! So get your running gear out of the closet and lets make a difference for Pete!
Thank you for your support!
