We are pleased to announce the return of Henderson County's triathlon coming back to Fletcher this summer for the 6th annual event! The event will be held at the Lelia Patterson Center (LPC) in Fletcher, NC on Sunday, July 9th, 2017 at 8am.
The Hunter Subaru LPC Triathlon is a Throwback Tri! What does this mean? Believe it or not, before the days of bike racks, triathlons and multi-sport events were still as prominent as ever. The Retro Tri Series is taking a step back to those days by offering a unique series that highlights the retro allure that once was. Retro attire is encouraged to enhance the experience and atmosphere!
In specific, the Throwback Triathlon is a multisport event for athlete of many ages and experience levels that combines swimming, biking, and running. Although it is not required, events may be timed; the focus is on participation rather than competition.
The event will begin with an easy 200 yard pool swim at the LPC Aquatics Center pool. During the registration process participants will be asked to submit their 100 yard swim time. Please keep in mind, when inputting your 100 YARD swim time, we are asking for YARD time (not meter). This time is not your fastest 100 time ever but your average 100 time in a 400 meter swim.
Here is a good guide when deciding what swim time to register:
0:50 – 1:20 : Super Fast (In contention to win the race and you swim competitively)
1:21 – 1:45 : Fast Enough (Still starting in the first 1/3 of the event)
1:46 – 2:10 : Average Swimmer (Swim well enough and don’t need to stop at the end of each lane)
2:11 – 2:44 : Novice (Still getting used to swimming in a triathlon)
2:45 – 4:59 : Complete beginner (I want to start at the back)
We are bringing back the kid's, splash and dash, multisport event following the full triathlon on Sunday starting at approx. 10:30am.** More info can be found on www.idaph.net. Registration is open.
The race entry fee allows participating in the triathlon event and a portion of the race proceeds will benefit the LPC swim program for underprivileged children.
