Set at Vandenberg Esplanade in Lowell's beautiful redeveloped waterfront area, this race is a great olympic distance triathlon for people new to the distance as well as experienced triathletes. The race is managed by F.I.R.M., the largest race production company in the Northeast.
It's a two loop swim for the Olympic and a triangular course for the sprint. . The bike course is a fabulous, mostly flat two loop course with a few small risers near the golf course. The run is out and back.
The Bike is a beautiful scenic course along the river, 2 loops for the olympic and one loop for the sprint.
USA Triathlon age group divisions in five year increments are employed
for this event, for example: 30 to 34 years, 35 to 39 years, etc. Age
group is determined by age as of December 31, 2017. There is a
Clydesdale category for men who weigh 220+ pounds and an Athena category
for women who weight 165+ pounds. Also there is a relay category for
three person teams.
Awards are given to the top three finishers in each age group, and in the Clydesdale and Athena divisions, and to all three members of the top male relay team, top female relay team, and mixed relay team. And a random award or two may be given out at the race director's discretion.
